Support for International Students

Yale College prides itself on providing a first class support service for its students. Its dedicated International Office supports students throughout their studies at Yale, from the moment of their arrival in the UK right through to the achievement of their final qualifications.

Each student is assigned a personal tutor to help them make the most of their studies and access the full facilities of the college. In addition to weekly meetings, students can contact their personal tutor as frequently as they wish.

The International Office provides a point of contact for students throughout their time at Yale and a 24 hour help line means that students can contact the office even when the College day has finished.

Arrival

We meet our International Students on their arrival to the UK in a free pick up service and our comprehensive induction programme helps students to settle in. Students are helped to open a bank account, register with a doctor, get to know the area and meet fellow students.

Accommodation

The majority of our students prefer the option of staying with a local family in our Home-Stay Accommodation Scheme, where they can experience British family life.

Keeping in touch with home

We provide our International Students with free phone calls home each month to make keeping in touch with friends and family as easy as possible! In addition, all students have free access to internet and email facilities.

Work

For any students considering working to help support themselves while they study, Yale College has excellent links with local businesses and can help you to find local employment. International students can work part-time up to 20 hours per week whilst studying and full-time during the vacations.

Social & Cultural Calendar

Regular social activities, both cultural and sporting, will help students to make their stay in Britain memorable, giving them the chance to get to know fellow students and to see local and U.K. attractions.

English Language Support

Yale College is committed to helping International students to develop their English language skills and provides them with two hours of free English language support each week. Support is provided at a level to suit individual needs.

Help with study skills

Students can access help with study skills such as report writing, to help them succeed on their chosen course from the College’s Learning Resource Centre.

Progress Reports

Regular progress reports will help to keep both students and their families informed of how they are progressing in your studies.

Careers Advice

Our well resourced careers centre and highly professional team of careers advisors provide all the guidance students need to plan ahead for their further study and employment.

Enrichment Programme – A Lifestyle for Success

Yale College offers a wide range of sports and recreational options, including team sports, aerobics and outdoor pursuits, music and performing arts, film society and college radio. Students find that they are a great way to develop new interests and make lifelong friendships.
