Yale College charity boosts Bees for Development
Yale College student charity raised over £370 for “Bees for Development” when level two art and design learners developed and sold hand printed seed packets and tea towels as part of their Welsh Baccalaureate qualification.
Proceeds from student enterprise market innovations were donated to “Bees for Development” as part of the ‘Big Give’ and the amount raised was doubled in aid of beekeepers in Africa. Following Yale College Memorial Art Gallery’s theme of produce, inspired students designed and hand printed seed packets and tea towels, in order to raise awareness of the plight of the honey bee.
“Students have successfully raised awareness of the plight of the honey bee worldwide whilst providing individual popular gifts,” said Marcus Thomas, Programme Coordinator for Level 2 Art & Design at Yale College.
Focussing on a very important environmental issue, the whole project enabled students to complete their enterprise and community participation and charity work for their Welsh Baccalaureate whilst helping the development of beekeepers in Africa.
