Yale College student wins All Wales Laura Ashley House to Home Wall Art Competition.

Yale College student, Maureen Davies has won the all Wales category in the Laura Ashley House to Home Wall Art Competition and her designs will be available to buy in their Autumn/Winter 2012 collections.

Maureen’s success stemmed from her interpretation of the competition’s criteria seeking “inspiration from natural surroundings to create a piece of art showcasing the world on your doorstep”. Modest Maureen submitted her own view of the Glyn Ceiriog Valley from Chirk viaduct and was delighted and surprised to receive such high recognition for her work as she continues to enjoy excellent progression at Yale College:

“Our tutor makes us challenge ourselves,” says Maureen, “she sees potential and encourages us to experiment with different mediums”.

Maureen loved to draw even before she started on an Adult Community Learner short course in Drawing & Watercolours and progressed through Drome Introduction to Art. Supported by tutor Francine Isaacs, Programme Co-ordinator for Art & Craft at Yale College, Maureen is now studying Extending Skills in Art & Design.
