Yale College Learning Resource Centre Hosts National Exhibition
Categorised In
Would you like to see a ukulele made from an old library book? Or how about looking at libraries through Dylan Thomas’ Eyes? This is your opportunity to see the Express Yourself exhibition at Yale College Learning Resource Centre, Wrexham between 1st and 29th February 2012.
Express Yourself was a national libraries arts competition that encouraged people of all ages to show off their creative talents based on the theme of “Libraries”. They could choose any format including creative writing, dancing, drama, music, animation, painting, photography, drawing or sculpture. The winners were selected from a range of categories including primary and secondary schools, academic institutions, community organisations and individuals.
The final eighteen plus three highly commended were chosen from over 1600 entries and at an awards ceremony in the Senedd, actress and writer Ruth Jones commented: “The creativity and imagination shown in all categories is amazing; they would certainly inspire me to visit a library! I would urge everyone to go along and take a look at this fantastic exhibition.”
Visitors to the exhibition have been keen to share their views –
“Very creative exhibition – particularly picture books, enjoyed video footage!”
“An explosion of ideas. The versatile & thought provoking work is intriguing and well exploited.”
All the winning entries together with film clips of the winners receiving their prizes can be seen on librarywales.org.
