Students Advocate Sporting Activities
Sports students are advocating activities in an action-packed day designed to encourage students in the rest of the College to take part and keep up the positive impact of Olympic-mania.
Keeping the spirit strictly fun, Yale College sports hall at Grove Park between 11 am to 1 pm this Tuesday will be the venue for cross-college competition including cross-bar challenge, beat the keeper, netball shoot outs and table tennis challenges between students.
“Our sports students are excited by the challenges and keen to advocate healthy active fun for everyone,” says Delyth Sharples, sports lecturer at Yale College.
The activities will form part of the sports students’ Welsh Baccalaureate qualification and incorporate fundraising for a Wrexham wide sports festival to take place at Glyndŵr University in the summer as a follow up from the Olympics. An “Ultimate Frisbee” competition will follow morning activities to recruit students for new extra-curricular sessions to take place later on in the year.
