From Yale College to Yale University
Yale College & Glyndŵr University chaplain, Janice Jones, was the only Welsh Chaplain to join 400 college and university chaplains from across the world at Yale University, New Haven Connecticut.
Every fourth year chaplains gather for a global meeting to share their work with peers, to be inspired by speakers, interactive workshops and explore new ideas in Chaplaincy.
A spectacular opening dinner was held in the great hall for a conference theme entitled Mosaics in Motion – Spiritual Leadership in a Multi-faith World. Yale University’s lead chaplain, Sharon Kugler remarked upon the magical atmosphere and surroundings synonymous of a “Harry Potter” film.
“I led a roundtable discussion on radical hospitality at Yale and Glyndwr which was attended by delegates from Australia, USA, New Zealand and Europe”, said Janice. “I really appreciated the support I received from Yale College, Glyndŵr University and local churches enabling me to attend and experience this highly regarded conference”.
Key note speakers from Muslim, Christian and Jewish perspectives gave interesting insights into faith on campuses in different parts of the world. Workshops were led on four themes radical hospitality; religious literacy; service with thoughtful reflection and creating and sharing sacred spaces.
