Financial Help for Students 2011/12

| Name of Fund: | Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). Pick up an application form within Yale College or download one from www.studentfinancewales.co.uk. |
| Maximum amount awarded: | £30 weekly. |
| Criteria: | 16-18 years old, Living in Wales, Must have household income below £20,817 (OR below £23,077 if there are other young people in the household who qualify for child benefit), Must be undertaking at least 12 hours of guided learning in further education. |
| Name of Fund: | Assembly Learning Grant (ALG). Pick up an application form within Yale College or download one from www.studentfinancewales.co.uk. |
| Maximum amount awarded: | Full-time students (over 500 contact hours): up to £1,500, Part-time students (over 275 contact hours): up to £750. |
| Criteria: | Aged 19 and over, Ordinarily resident in Wales, 3 years residency in UK/EEA, Must have household income below £18,370. |
| Name of Fund: | Financial Contingency Fund (FCF). Apply within Yale College. |
| Maximum amount awarded: | Awarded on individual basis for childcare, transport, books, equipment, trips etc. Please note: The FCF is a limited fund, allocated on a first come first served basis. Early application is therefore advised. |
| Criteria: | Over 16 and on a full-time or part-time course, 3 years residency in UK/EEA, Must have household income below £20,817 (OR below £23,077 if there are other young people in the household who qualify for child benefit). |
| Name of Fund: | Army Bursary. Contact Alan Lowry at Yale College on 01978 311794 or visit: armyjobs.mod.uk. |
| Maximum amount awarded: | A £2000 bursary towards the cost of your college study (£1000 whilst at College and the other £1000 on joining the army at the end of the course). |
| Criteria: | Designed to help 16-32 year olds to complete their further education so that they can join the army in a guaranteed job with college qualifications under their belt. Only for those students who want to join the army. |
