Routine and activities
The Nursery operates in three small groups, Babies, Littlies and Biggies. We are well staffed to enable the children to form secure and meaningful relationships with each other and the staff.
We understand the importance of a child’s development and provide a variety of activities, with the emphasis on having fun and learning through play. The Nursery works to ensure that the desirable outcomes for all children are met. All activities are planned around the Birth to Three Matters framework and we have introduced elements of the Foundation Phase for the Biggies. Your child will be assigned a key worker who will ensure that records of their development are kept and their individual needs are met. All staff will encourage, support and develop your child’s skills. We encourage exploration in a controlled and secure way during both indoor and outdoor play. We provide safe environments yet allow the children to explore how they use the equipment available to them.
During a typical day in nursery your child will have many opportunities to learn through play with a wide variety of toys, games and activities. All children at the Nursery are allowed to develop at their own pace with support and guidance from the well qualified and experienced staff. They will have the opportunity to explore many forms of craft materials allowing them to express their creativity. All art/craft work the children create is either displayed within the Nursery or is available for parents/carers to take home.
The Nursery adopts a flexible routine to allow for activities or games to be fully enjoyed by the children although a healthy snack and a drink will be provided mid morning and mid afternoon and lunch is at 12 noon. All the children are encouraged to take part in the routines and activities within the Nursery although the individual needs of the children will always be taken into account.
Babies will always follow their home routine as far as possible.
Special Needs
The Nursery will endeavour to provide the best possible care for all children. If your child has special needs it is recommended that you contact the Nursery to discuss the appropriate care for your child.
Snacks and Lunch
Healthy snacks are provided for the children mid morning and mid afternoon.
If your child is not allowed certain foods or drinks please notify the staff.
A hot nutritious meal is provided every day and the menu is varied and balanced to meet the need of every child. Please inform the Nursery if there are some foods that your child can’t eat.
Nappy Changing
Parents must supply nappies and wipes and ensure that the staff have plentiful supplies for each child. Please bring in the nappies for the week clearly marked with your child’s name.
Meeting the Staff
We feel that it is an advantage to come along with your child before your course starts to meet us, and for your child to become familiar with the facilities and the staff. If you have any special requests or problems please ask a member of staff.
Collecting a Child
In the interests of safety if any person other than the parent/guardian is collecting the child the Nursery Supervisor MUST be told. Ideally the Nursery staff would like to meet the named person beforehand. If this is not possible a good photograph or good description is important. We also operate a password system. In the event that we do not have any notification, the Supervisors will not allow the child to leave the Nursery.
MAKING COMPLAINTS
It is our aim to provide the best possible care for your child but in the event of you being dissatisfied we would ask that in the first instance you speak with one of the Supervisors or Angela Woolrich, Director of Student Support, at the College.
However in the unlikely event that you feel that your complaint has not been dealt with satisfactorily you may wish to contact the CSSIW at North Wales Region, Government Offices, Sarn Mynach, Llandudno Junction, Conwy, LL13 9RZ Tel. 0300 0625609
