Career Academies UK at Yale College
Aspire….Accelerate….Achieve
Yale College’s links with Career Academies UK (CAUK) means “Level three” full-time students gain unique career support from local employers offering guru lectures, mentoring learners and leading to paid internship opportunities next summer.
Yale College will be recruiting for CAUK from learners applying for level 3 full-time studies this September. The programme will be open principally to business students to run alongside their College course. At the first Local Advisory Board (LAB) meeting held at Yale College, employers, career and voluntary group specialists including representatives from M&S Money, ScottishPower, Airbus, Mican, JCB and other local businesses were focussed on improving student employability skills and offering them real experience in the workplace.
“We are delighted so many local employers are talking to us about working with our learners for Career Academies,” says Tim Guy, Director at Yale College.
The two year Career Academy programme for 16 to 19 year olds aims to help youngsters achieve their full potential with support for their learning, a six-week paid internship with a local employer, employer-led lectures, seminars and company visits and one-to-one mentoring by an experienced employee volunteer.
These programmes are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government
